It’s made according to the formula of the Larung Gar Buddhist Academy in the Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. Ingredients include red and white sandalwood, borneol, frankincense, clove, agarwood. Five Fragrance Tibetan Incense is named after the five precious things: gold, silver, turquoise, copper and iron. The incense features herbal ingredients that are representative.

An interesting incense. It is a clever mix of the typical Tibetan scents: a bit of wormwood, a bit of cedar, a bit of sandalwood and some spices, all balanced with each other in the right proportion. It is somewhat pungent, not a light or mild incense. Experienced users of Tibetan incense will clearly love it. I see it as great addition to my collection as it definitely has calming and balancing properties ; and it once more shows the expertise Tibetan incense makers have when it comes to creating therapeutic incense.

This is a lovely balanced incense. Agarwood comes out first, followed by the rest of the woods, which reminds me of a very high-end Nepali ‘campfire’ incense. But then the frankincense, borneol, clove and the rest of the spices come in, balancing the woods and making a very calm but somehow energizing scent. Smells like a premium Agar-31 made without skimping on the pricey ingredients.
