One of the most popular and controversial of all Tibetan incense, Holy Land offers an earthy aroma. that some love and some not so much. Though it contains a high proportion of sandalwood, there is little of the ‘sweetness’ associated with sandalwood. It is excellent for meditation and to clear and refresh the mind and atmosphere. Individual sticks are very dense . Holy Land Incense is a premium product of the Tibetan Medicine Company of Traditional Tibet College, located in Lhasa. The College has become a well-known centre for academic, research and Tibetan medicine production.

Classic Holy Land. Famous stick. Smells like horses and berries, very rich and complex. So soothing. Burn this at the end of the day and feel a smile spread from ear to ear.

Unfortunately not what it used to be. I have a few sticks left over from the last batch I ordered a few years ago. The old ones are noticeably darker and denser, the aroma is much richer, smoother, and more refined. The old sticks burned for a good two hours, the latest about half that. Although the basic smell is roughly the same, these definitely seem like a watered down version of what this once fabulous incense used to be. Like a B grade with more fillers. Sad to see, as this was in my top two for Tibetan incense.

Finally got a chance to try this one, as I am familiar with O.R.S. and this one is in their hall of fame.
I have to say that I am a BIG fan of Himalayan origin incense. I understand that the appreciation of this genre is in the nuances, the details of each are subtle, and not every one’s space is capable of rendering the same experience.
Having said that, I gave this stick a try. And then another the next day. Then morning and night, on three consecutive days. I wanted to be completely certain that my initial impressions were valid.
To be completely honest, one must compare this with others in the same genre. If I were to do that, I would have to say TICK OFF! I personally have AT LEAST twenty different varieties in this genre that are equal or superior to this. This MUST have been way better years ago, huh? WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!
